Family Sponsorship

Family Sponsorship

Moving to another country and leaving your friends and family on the opposite coast isn’t easy. One of the objectives of the Government of Canada is to see that families are brought together. Certain family members may be entitled to settle in Canada for long-term and become permanent residents under Family Class Category. After becoming Permanent Residents, they can live, study and work in Canada. In this way you no longer need to apply for a visitor visa and provide a letter of invitation.

Family Sponsorship has some compulsions such as minimum income required which should be met by the sponsor. If you want to sponsor someone to Canada, you should begin with reviewing family sponsorship applications, eligibility and requirements. You may be qualified to sponsor a child, spouse or common law partner living outside or inside Canada if you are 18 years of age or older and you are a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident.

When you are sponsoring a family member, whether it is your dependent child or spouse/common law partner, you are committed to supporting them financially. You must be working in Canada and meet certain income requirements. Sponsoring a family member to Canada is a huge responsibility, you will also have to sign an undertaking agreement.
