Federal Skilled Worker

Skilled Workers (Independent Immigrants) are accepted for entry into Canada depending on the number of points they score. One way to qualify for Canadian immigration as a Federal Skilled Worker is to have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in one of the 29 qualifying occupations.

The qualifying occupations are named by NOC (National Occupational Classification) and are based on the main duties performed.

Federal Skilled Trades Program

The Federal Skilled Trades program is designed to facilitate the entry of overseas skilled trades-persons into the Canadian workforce.Canadian employers have long been asking for ways to get the skilled tradespeople they need to meet demands in many industries across the country.

In order to be eligible to apply as a Skilled Trades Worker, applicants will need to:

1. have an offer of employment in Canada or a certificate of qualification from a province or territory to ensure that the applicant is “job ready” upon arrival;

2. meet a basic language requirement;

3. have a minimum of two years of work experience as a skilled tradesperson

4. have the skills and experience that match those set out in the National Occupational Classification (NOC B) system, showing that they have performed the essential duties of the occupation.

Quebec Skilled Worker

Quebec has it’s own Skilled Immigration program which attracts many professionals from across the globe. Unlike the Federal Skilled program this program has no capping system of applications and has more qualifying occupations. There are many priority occupations under this program which get pririoty processing and are also Fast Tracked. These priority occupations include Nursing / Aerospace, aeronautical and astronautical engineering / Chemistry and biochemistry / Business management / Chemical engineering technology / Civil engineering technology / Diagnostic radiology technology / Laboratory technology / Pharmaceutical production technology and some more.

If you have all the above qualities, you can be selected to immigrate to Quebec. Even if you do not have some of the above charateristcs, you may still qualify to immigrate to Quebec.
